President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has instructed the Government to begin implementing a nationwide large-scale program for the construction of social and infrastructure facilities. The directive followed Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov's report on the country's socio-economic performance for the first half of the year.
According to the report, Kazakhstan's economy continues to demonstrate steady growth. The construction sector recorded the strongest performance with 15.2% growth, followed by manufacturing at 9.8% and the transport and logistics sector at 7.1%. Investments in fixed capital reached KZT 9.5 trillion, while private investment increased by more than 21%.
By the end of the year, the Government plans to launch nearly 200 investment projects in the manufacturing industry with a total value of KZT 1.7 trillion, creating approximately 17,000 permanent jobs.
Significant attention is also being given to upgrading the country's energy infrastructure. As part of preparations for the upcoming heating season, power units, boilers, and turbines are undergoing modernization, with KZT 384 billion allocated for these works.
Kazakhstan is also advancing major digital infrastructure projects. The country is developing the Data Center Valley initiative with a planned capacity of 250 MW in cooperation with international IT companies. Declared foreign investment in the project exceeds USD 10 billion.
Tourism infrastructure remains another strategic priority. The Almaty SuperSki project includes the construction of 60 kilometres of ski slopes, increasing the resort's daily capacity to 10,000 visitors. The project is scheduled for completion in 2028.
Following the meeting, President Tokayev instructed the Government to accelerate the implementation of a nationwide construction program for social and engineering infrastructure. A key priority will be the construction of modern healthcare facilities aimed at improving the quality of life across Kazakhstan's regions.
The rapid growth of the construction sector, increasing investment activity, and the implementation of major infrastructure projects are creating new opportunities for manufacturers of construction machinery, equipment, and technologies. These market trends are expected to further strengthen business cooperation at the international Bautrux Astana exhibition.
