Construction Quality in Kazakhstan: Tokayev Calls for Stronger Control
Kazakhstan needs to pay particular attention to the quality of construction work and strengthen control at every stage of project implementation. This was stated by President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, who highlighted quality issues with some newly constructed facilities.
According to the President, residential buildings, social facilities and roads are being actively constructed across the regions. At the same time, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev stressed that quality and the timely completion of construction projects should remain key priorities.
“The quality of some new residential buildings is beyond criticism and has even become a subject of public concern,” the President said.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev also drew attention to the condition of road infrastructure. As an example, he cited the Taldykorgan–Ust-Kamenogorsk highway, where the road surface began to deteriorate shortly after its opening. The President called for stronger control over construction work at every stage, from the start of a project through to its completion, as well as more effective quality assessment and public oversight.
At the same time, Kazakhstan’s construction volumes continue to grow. According to the Ministry of Industry and Construction, 20.4 million m² of housing, or approximately 188,000 apartments, are planned to be commissioned in 2026. During the first eight months of the year, 11.3 million m² of housing, or 105,900 housing units, had already been commissioned, representing 55.3% of the annual target.
As the construction market continues to expand, modern technologies, equipment, specialised machinery and solutions that can improve the efficiency and quality of construction processes are becoming increasingly important.
