Kazakhstan Builds Nearly 10 Million Square Metres of Housing in Seven Months

Kazakhstan’s construction sector continues to show strong growth. In January–July 2026, construction work worth KZT 5.06 trillion was carried out in the country, up 15.3% compared with the same period last year. The data was reported by the Bureau of National Statistics.

Over the first seven months of the year, 9.746 million square metres of housing were commissioned in Kazakhstan, an increase of 3.9% year on year. Overall, 12.3 million square metres of new facilities were commissioned during the period.

Of the total housing volume, 6.546 million square metres accounted for multi-apartment buildings, while 3.158 million square metres were individual housing. Private developers accounted for the majority of construction, building 95.3% of the housing commissioned during the period.

Growth was recorded beyond the residential construction segment. The largest share of total construction activity came from the construction of roads, railways and metro infrastructure, accounting for 24.7%. Non-residential buildings represented 21.4%, while residential construction accounted for 13.4% of the total volume of construction work.

The strongest growth in construction activity was recorded in several regions. In Ulytau Region, the volume almost tripled, while Kyzylorda Region recorded growth of 34.9%, Pavlodar Region 32%, Atyrau Region 27.9%, and Turkistan Region 25.7%. Significant growth was also recorded in East Kazakhstan Region, Almaty, Abai Region and Kostanay Region.

The expansion of the construction sector is also accompanied by the development of social infrastructure. From January to July, Kazakhstan commissioned 32 schools with capacity for 18,090 students and 32 preschool organisations with 4,207 places. In addition, six outpatient healthcare facilities and a 120-bed hospital extension were put into operation.
